The 12th of February 2016 was a very exciting day for St Thomas Aquinas Infants because it was their sports day, more so for the ECD because it was their first time to take part. The pupils were dressed in their house colours with St Dominics in green and St Alberts in Red.
The activities started at 10:30am. The Grade one Hannah Montana Sprint was the first race followed by the ECD Dippy Ducks Morning rush. The little ones did very well. There were a lot of parents who came to cheer for their children. It was very exciting to see the parents cheering passionately for their children. It was quite amusing to see some of the ECD and grade one pupils running beyond the finishing line that the line judges had to run after the pupils.
There were a lot of races that included ECD Peaches Waiters race, ECD clever cats, Fireman Fred, Grade 1 scoobies and bead threading. It was very exciting to see the pupils do their races while the parents were cheering and running along the sidelines.
A lot of pupils performed very well with the following pupils coming first in three races thereby getting three medals: Mbali Bhebhe (ECD), Mphathi Donga (ECD) broke a record set by Aluwisi Phiri, Josha Siwela (Grade1), Musawenkosi Dube (Grade two) also broke one record.
In the relays the spectators were treated to some incredible running. In the ECD relay St Dominic won, in grade 1 St Albert won and in the final relay in grade 2 it was won by St Dominics.
When all the events were completed the guest of honour(Mrs Muchichwa) announced the winning team which was ST Dominics, both the St Dominics pupils and parents leapt with joy they got a trophy. And all those who got first position, second position and third position got medals.
